It's been a while

So it's been a while since my last post. Let's just say that life got busy. Now to catch you up to speed on the Gustafson house.

TED:
Oh my sweet husband ruptured his Achille's Tendon on 1/16/13 while playing open gym basketball. He had surgery the following day, which went well. He is recovering well and the pain is now manageable. He plans to return to work soon. His cast will be removed on 2/25/13 and I couldn't be more excited. Of course he has to be in a walking boot after that, but at least he can take it off. Lately our house looks like a Home Medical Equipment store complete with a knee scooter (yes, my man has a knee scooter), crutches, foot rests, tub bench.......

Ted's new ride
Ted has been keeping himself busy though. When well rested he has been able to get a head start on our taxes, do some documentation for work, and other random things we have been meaning to catch up on.

I want to say Thank You to all who have helped us during this time. The Schlaak's have been a huge help watching the kids as needed. Gracie, Caleb, and Micah have all come over to help carry Willa and entertain the boys. (I imagine it's pretty hard to carry a baby upstairs with crutches.) So Thank You! Also to Ted's mom, Vicki, who has taken time off from work to help us out. Also to a friend at church, Tammy, for picking up Hayden at school. Thank You!

CAMILLE:
Here is my big news: I asked to reduce my hours at work and it was approved! I will cut out 1 day a week beginning next week. I will work on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. I don't think that this could have come at a more perfect time. It will be amazing to have another day at home with my babies.

Life has been very hectic lately with Ted's injury and rounds upon rounds upon rounds of illness going through our house. But I am comforted in knowing that God is in control.

HAYDEN:
He is a busy little boy. He goes to school M-F 9-11:30 and loves it.  He asked me the other morning if it was spring yet. I replied that it was not and questioned why he asked me. He informed me that when it is spring he can play in the sand box at school and could not wait! Hayden has made some good friends and talks kindly of them. He continues to enjoy riding the bus and going to daycare 2 days a week. Hayden has learned how to spell his name, say his abc's, count to over 20, make a pattern, identify the parts of the book, and so much more. What has surprised me is how much he wants to be like the other students. He now has an opinion on his clothes because he wants to be cool. In case you were wondering, shirts with pictures are cool. And not the ones with words. :)

Hayden continues to be actively involved in Awana Cubbies at Faith Bible Church. He memorizes a verse each week. He enjoys going and loves the time spent there. He always come home with a story and craft they completed while there.

Hayden started basketball at the Marion Park and Rec. So far they have practiced passing, dribbling, defense, and shooting. Hayden is such a good listener that when his coach told him to stand on a spot for passing drills he did. He did so much that he didn't even move his feet to catch the ball. Ted had to inform him that he could around a little bit to get and pass the ball.

This big boy has lost 2 teeth already with a 3rd one loose. Yikes! Oh and just ask him about the tooth fairy and he will tell you the truth....Mom and Dad! Just like Santa Claus. ;)

King of the Hill

ELI:
This boy can talk! He has more words than I can count. But keep in mind, these words aren't always kind. We are working on that. Some of his favorite phrases are: "You funny!" "I come!" "Mom's lap!" "No touching. Ever!" "I thirsty. "He has a sweet, yet adventurous spirit. This boy is going to give me gray hairs early. :) He is also strong. Eli can do the wheelbarrow like no other 2 year old!

Eli is a good eater. This kid will eat almost anything in front of him and them some. He goes into the pantry DAILY to get a "snack" and he insists that he is hungry. The other day Ted and I found him sitting on the pantry floor with the door shut eating dry cereal. We call him our closet eater.

Eli also likes to play with his cars. He will do this every day. And every day he will drive them on the tv stand. And Every day Ted tells him not to in fear that he will bump the tv and it will fall over. He is persistent.

I SPY

WILLA:
My sweet baby girl is sitting up, rolling over, and even attempting to get up on all fours.  Making this momma OT proud :) She is 19 lbs 6 oz and eating every ounce of it! She loves oatmeal, rice cereal, carrots, sweet potatoes, bananas, pears, cheerios and tolerates green beans and peas. She likes sitting at the table with us during supper and plays with toys or eats cheerios.

Willa is one of the happiest babies. The other night we were with a group of friend and she was over tired. Willa began to cry when Ted was putting on her coat. Someone said that this was the first time she had ever heard her cry. Willa is 8 months old! Willa goes to the nursery every week and it is not uncommon that I hear one or more of the ladies say they will just take her home with them. I guess I have to keep my eye on her. This is especially true with her pig tails or pony tail. Yep, my baby has enough hair to do that. :)

Willa also loves her momma. She says, "mmmmmaaa, mama mama." She notices when I walk into the room and vocalizes her desire to be held by me. She thinks her brothers are so funny and giggles with delight when they play with her.

Such good smiles.

Bundle up baby!

Well, I think that about summarizes it for now.
