Hayden turns F.I.V.E!

Our little boy turned 5! On August 16, 2007 he arrived fashionably late to this world but he made it worth the wait. Hayden Marcus Gustafson is a delightful little guy who makes life that much more enjoyable. This year marks the year he starts school. Hayden will be attending Erskine Elementary School for Alternative Kindergarten (A-K), a program designed for kids with summer birthdays. He is so excited! He even gets to ride the bus. He will go to school everyday in the mornings starting August 22. We were able to go to the school open house to see his classroom and meet his teachers.

To celebrate Hayden's birthday, we began with a cupcake in bed :) Hayden picked out a multicolor cake that he insisted his mom make.....which I did. He picked out all the colors for each cupcake. We had a good time making and eating them together.

Everyone wishes Hayden a happy birthday.
Mommy and the bare chested birthday boy.
After Hayden's open house we traveled to Minnesota to visit my parents. Ted was already in Minneapolis for Best Buy training so we met him at the Steele County Fee Fair on Friday the 17th where we concluded Hayden's birthday festivities.

Hayden's Fun Facts:

Favorite food: Pancakes. He isn't a big eater but he can put away his pancakes. He asks for them weekly. However, he has been doing a fantastic job at trying new foods. It sure makes this OT Momma proud :)   (I have worked with kids with a diet limited to just a few foods and absolutely will not try anything new.)

Favorite Activity: Too many to list. He loves to play with his brother Eli in almost anything. I often find them playing with their lightsabers, cars, mega blocks. Hayden loves to play with all of his new toys, and he enjoys swimming, going to the beach, playing with his cousins is always at the top of his list. Hayden played blastball this summer and loved it so he is signed up for soccer this fall. He also Loves AWANA! This begins at church come September. He has been asking when he gets to go to cubbies again. I just love that he loves church activities!

Favorite Color: Red, sometimes blue and occasionally purple to be like his mom.

Favorite thing to sleep in: Shorts and no shirt, just like dad.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAYDEN!

Blank Park Zoo

Going to the zoo is one the thing we wanted to do together as a family this summer. So we made the 2 hour trip to Des Moines to go to the Blank Park Zoo. Doesn't really compare to the Minnesota Zoo, but it was a good size for our family. It was all that Eli could handle with his little legs and big spirit. They all did a great job and we all had a fabulous time.
